  1. This website is where other women wrote about their husbands being at Fort Benning for Basic Training. 8 woman filled out surveys about how long it was before they got letters, phone calls, information on graduation....

My husband is at Fort Sill and I couldnt have made it without this website. Its AMAZING!

  2. Basically, perhaps a week after settling in. If you have the address, or you call the recruiter he can give you his address and you can write to him everyday for sure. Number the letters so he knows which one is first and in what order to read them.

He will be able to write the 2nd or 3rd week.

    good luck!

  3. My boyfriend is currently in basic at Fort Sill and the first week all I got was a postcard that he sent from OKC waiting on transport to the base.  After that he started writing at the end of week 2 and gave me his address to write back.

Now I write him daily and mail them once or twice a week.  I usually get a letter or two a week from him but they aren't terribly long but let me know what he's been doing and that he's still ok.  Dave carries paper and pen with him everywhere to take notes if he needs to and writes me a quick letter whenever he gets a chance.

  4. usually after a week or so...depends on the stuff he has to do ....but usually people in Basic can write/call hime after about a week

  5. The day you get off the bus the DI's order you to write a letter to your folks, wife, or someone telling them you are at Benning. You should get something in the mail very soon. Don't try to call and find out if he is there yet, you can do this thru his recruiter, If you do he'll catch h**l from his DI's for "Not writing mommy back home" and have to do about 200 push ups. Do call if you haven't heard from him by next week, if he hasn't written you by then he deserves to do 200 push ups. Don't worry, hes fine right now, he just thinks h**l has come to earth right there in good ol' Georgia but that will pass to. God Bless and good luck.

  6. Usually they have you write a letter the first night.  He might just be getting to basic since you usually spend 3 to 7 days at reception and they don't have a good address yet.

The first week was the worst and he might be to tired to write and you have limited time to do so.  Don't worry though you will hear from him soon.

  7. It may be a couple of weeks before you get anything from him.  One the military is always slow with mail and two he has to write you for you to get anything in order for you to send him anything.  Be patient, you will get something eventually.  This is training for learning how to be a military wife you will need to learn how to go without contact even though it sucks.  Good luck.

  8. The week he arrives he should be able to start writing, usually the Drill Sergeants in charge create some area that they can leave the address letters. They may be a short lull of no letters between reception (usually one week when you arrive) and actual basic training.  If you don't hear from him right away don't worry, the first week is very stress-full. Depending on were you live they should start showing up in a few days.  As basic progress he will also be given short access to a phone, it's been a while since I've been in but I think I was given a five minute phone call every two or three weeks.  You may want to send him with a phone call, when I went to Fort Sill it was all pay phones.

  9. The first week is the most hectic.  You will hear from him soon.
