While speaking to media persons the 35-year-old http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the third and final One Day International in Sharjah on Monday night.
“He's a fantastic bowler. But we have to change our game plan. We're defending him a little bit and to our [peril]. Maybe the best form of defence is attacking him,” Hussey was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning
Herald on Sunday.
“We've seen the Sri Lankans play him, we've seen the Indians play him, and we might think that's the better route to go,” the Aussie all-rounder added further.
After scripting a comfortable four-wicket win over Pakistan in the series opener at Sharjah, the Australian batsmen were baffled by Saeed Ajmal in the second one-dayer at Abu Dhabi on Friday. The Aussie line-up was left clueless on how
to counter Ajmal’s off-spin, who returned with impressive figures of four for 32 from a spell of ten overs, as Australia could manage 248 for nine in their stipulated fifty overs.
Pakistan, in reply rode on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-c78728 Jamshed’s scintillating 97 to chase down the 249-run target in 43.4 overs and carve a seven-wicket win over the Kangaroos, to level the series 1-1.
With the two sides returning to Sharjah to play in the series decider, Hussey revealed that they have been studying the video tapes of how the Sri Lankan batsmen countered http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 during their recent ODI series win over Pakistan, at
home.
During the 3-1 ODI series defeat at the hands of Islanders, in June, Ajmal could pick up only three wickets at an average of 40.66,
in contrast to his seven wickets against the Aussies from just two games, at 8.85.
“I know all the boys are watching a lot of video on how to read him and how to play him differently,” said Hussey, who has been dismissed in both the ODIs by the right-arm off-spinner.
“Kumar Sangakkara plays him a totally different way to the way the Australians play him… we are looking at that aspect of playing Ajmal,” he added further.
