Hussey and Watson put Australia in a commanding position
Michael Hussey and Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s lead to 292 runs on the third day of the 3rd Ashes Test at WACA in
Perth.
The Australian pair made sure that their team didn't repeat their first innings performance. Both of them played with great composure and authority to guide Australia to a comfortable score of 211 runs for the loss of four wickets.
Shane Watson, once again fell in the 90s as this was his fourth ninety plus score in Test cricket. Watson’s contribution was crucial at the top of order as he provided the home team with a platform to launch an attack over the opposition. In his brilliant
innings of 95 runs, the Australian all-rounder played shots all around the park as he struck 11 crisp boundaries.
Michael Hussey is in the form of his life as he continued to dominate the English attack, scoring his sixth fifty-plus score in order to put Australia ahead. In the process, the left hander became the first player to score six consecutive fifties in the
history of the Ashes.
Moreover, Mr. Cricket remained unbeaten for his 60-run innings and he will start the proceedings in the second session. Hussey’s stay on the crease will define Australia’s lead. The responsibility rests on his shoulder as he is the only top-order batsmen
left.
Steven Smith, the youngster has joined Hussey and so far, has looked good for his unbeaten score of 16 runs. Smith has played vigilantly in order to provide his senior partner some valuable support. English bowlers haven't bowled badly, though they have
only picked up the important wicket of Watson.
James Anderson and Chris Tremlett bowled a nagging line and length in order to take wickets for England. However, their figures might not suggest how well they have bowled on this WACA pitch.
Anderson tested the opposition batsmen with his probing line, but the Australian players picked the length quite early as they left the balls wonderfully well outside the off-stump.
Tremlett was the pick of the bowlers as he troubled the Australian batsmen with his extra bounce, scalping the prize wicket of a well settled Watson.
The game is slipping away from England as Australia is leading by 292 runs on a sporting track at WACA. England has to pick up some quick wickets in order to restrict Australia to a reachable target.
