Hussey overrules the English...
Mike Hussey resented the English ranks, showing the class that he is known for. The century that he made certainly made the selectors aware of his dominant presence in the side. There is no doubt that Hussey is having a spectacular
series so far, leading the Aussie batting line-up from the front. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 could not complete his century, yet his 95 runs illustrated a concrete effort.
England drifted back to pick up some wickets, cornering Hussey and his changing partners. Chris Tremlett put up an impressive performance, bagging four wickets in this innings. He has truly shown an inspirational temperament, pitching
the ball in the right areas, and consequently getting rewarded.
Hussey’s unforgettable display this time has made him the first batsman to score six back to back fifty-plus marks in an Ashes series. Certainly, the futile century at the Oval last year will be playing in his mind, reminding him
that this should be a favorably oriented knock. He also surpassed Alastair Cook in terms of scoring the highest number of runs in the series, adding to his prolific career.
This has pleased the Australian selectors, who were thinking otherwise before the start of the Ashes this year. The performance is obviously not bad for a player, who was initially in doubt to be a part of the playing squad. Hussey
has truly shown why he has been given the title of “Mr. Cricket”.
The innings was the best way to build up a Test knock, patient and concrete. Hussey ranged in the 20s overnight, giving a little over half an hour this morning to the bowlers, leaving balls outside off-stump, and regaining his
focus. Both England and Australia certainly knew the importance of wickets upfront, but the English were in search of Hussey’s big wicket.
Hussey brought up his century with a pull shot, jumping in the air to celebrate the resistance. He also thanked the crowd while waving the bat towards them. He looked satisfied within, relieved and focused. He was barely disturbed
by the line and length of the English, who were desperately searching for his dismissal.
