The traditional rivalry between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326,
no batsman could stand on the crease to build a resilient partnership.
Hosts lost their next four wickets just for 77 due to some impressive spells from Anderson and Finn until resurgent Michael Hussey in collaboration of Australian wicket keeper Brad Haddin built a partnership of 77 till stumps. Australia was 143 for 5 when
Hussey (81) and Haddin (22) brought back the host side on track.
English bowlers had the capabilities of continuing the batting disaster of the hosts in Kangaroos own conditions from the beginning when Katich was fortunate enough to be safe when he intended to take a single in covers but denied by the partner Watson.
Overall control of English players with the bowl and in the field was praiseworthy during the times when wickets were not coming.
Hussey struggled too along with other Australian batsmen with the English bowlers in their own conditions as he went on to stable his side with high knock of 81 runs in these bowler favouring conditions by building a partnership with Haddin.
Hussey had felt the danger of being held up to low total by English bowlers when Australia lost 5 for 143 therefore he was very careful in his selection of shorts and most of the time he kept it low especially in the afternoon session.
Due to Hussey’s tolerance and confident show, his partner Haddin also made himself set on the crease by looking at Hussey’s comfort in that difficult time by continuing the slow pace run scoring
On the other hand English bowlers were quite happy and enjoyed the bowling conditions on the second day at Gabba test. 21-year-old Finn was new to these conditions and was playing his first Ashes Test. He bowled some fiery spells in the
afternoon session for hosts and took 2 important wickets of Simon Katich and Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clark-c51118 apart from being punished and pulled few times by Hussey.
The Ashes is a new and exciting experience for Finn with thousands of audiences as according to him he was quite impressed by shouting of a crowd of 35,000 people on the first day when he was sitting with his team-mates in the pavilion
but he was literally stirred by the involvement and strength of crown when he was bowling today as he has never experienced such a crowd show being used to playing the championship cricket where only few people turn out.
