Hutchison becomes the second Spartan to make the cut at John Deere Classic
Randall Hutchison becomes the second Spartan golfer after Jack Newman to make the cut at the John Deere Classic. Jack made the cut at TPC Deere Run back in 2009. However, this time around Randall shot two straight rounds of 3-under par to make the cut.
Going into the weekend, Randall is sitting comfortably on 6-under par over all. Playing in his second PGA tournament, Randall has so far impressed everybody with his fine show at the TPC Deere Run.
Meanwhile, Matteson continued his excellent run of form at the TPC Deere Run. He is leading after two rounds by just one stroke.
Hutchison started the first round in a very disappointing fashion when he bogeyed on the first hole, but he compensated it with two birdies on the next two holes.
After that, it was steady work from the Spartan who scored 11 straight pars until bogeying the 15th. However, he rallied again to finish the round strongly with three straight birdies on the last three holes.
Hutchison had a mixed round two. He started on the back nine and immediately, he got going, scoring four straight birdies. However, a lapse in concentration followed two straight bogeys that cut short his score.
On the front nine, he was quite consistent. He birdied the first two and bogeyed the fifth hole but scored 6 pars on the last seven holes he played.
Hutchison has been playing on the NGA Professional tour, where he has performed pretty well and is ranked 11th on the money list.
However, there is a big difference between the NGA Tour and the PGA Tour, and doing well on the PGA Tour is really demanding.
Like Chad Proehl, Hutchison too had to come through a Monday qualifier in order to play at the event.
However, all eyes will be on Steve Stricker during the weekend, as he looks to create history for himself. Steve is eyeing for his fourth straight title at the TPC Deere Run.
If he succeeds in that, then he will be the fifth man in the history of golf to have achieved such feat. The last man to do this was Tiger Woods.
