The Schalke manager has regarded Arsenal as the favourites to top Group B in the UEFA Champions League and is wary of the threat Montpellier can cause.
Die Knappen will take on host Montpellier in their next UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday, October 3. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues won their first fixture against Olympiacos last month with a 2-1 scoreline as Benedikt Howedes and Klaas-Jan
Huntelaar scored goals.
Schalke manager Huub Stevens insisted that London giants Arsenal are the favourites to win the group at the end of the preliminary stage. He stressed that the likes of Schalke, Olympiacos and Montpellier will fight for the second
spot which will certainly not be easy.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven boss stated that the Premier League side are very strong and have been performing consistently in Europe in the past. He claimed that the Gunners are a very strong side and are almost certain to qualify
for the next phase with the quality they have in their squad.
“I see Arsenal as the favourites for our group. Montpellier, Olympiacos and we will be fighting for second place. It is no coincidence that they are French champions,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the Royal Blues’ boss stressed that French champions Montpellier are by no means a poor side. He stated that it may be the side’s first UEFA Champions League campaign, but is wary of the threat the team can cause
in the next fixture.
Stevens hailed the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Camara-c8277, Belhanda and Mournier, and is certain that the opposition will cause problems if they are not dealt with properly. He warned his side against complacency and wants the players to perform to their
full potential.
“Montpellier have some good players, such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, but that does not mean anything,” he concluded.
Die Knappen are currently second in Group B, level on points with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429. They are being touted as favourites along with Arsenal to qualify for the next round of Europe’s premier club competition.
