The newly appointed Schalke manager is elated with the club’s position at the end of December and is sure his side will challenge for the Bundesliga.
The manager admitted that his side have been brilliant after a slow start to the season and are certainly amongst the Bundesliga title contenders at the end of the season. He insisted that the team will have to build up to the
impressive first-half campaign and try to keep up to Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

“We were fantastic over the full 90 minutes. We went ahead early on and continued to build on that. However, we did have Lars Unnerstall to thank for making sure Bremen didn't get back into the game. Compliments to the team for

Meanwhile, Bremen boss Thomas Schaaf admitted that his side is not playing at its full potential and has called for improvement after the winter break. He stressed that Werder Bremen will have to play with much more consistency
in the second-half of the season if they want to challenge for the honours competing with the likes of Bayern Munich, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.
“We're not managing to perform over 90 minutes at the moment. We can't afford to play like that. It was incredible how much room we had in the first half,” he concluded.
