The Schalke manager is aiming to win against Otto Rehhagel’s side to ensure a third place finish this season.
Die Knappen are currently third on the Bundesliga standings table with 58 points from the 32 games played and are just two points ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach. The latter can leapfrog Schalke with just two games to go until
the end of the season.
Stevens claimed that the third place is Schalke’s to lose as they had the upper hand a few weeks back. He admitted that the side has faltered in some of the games played recently and have given a chance to the Foals to make a comeback.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven boss added that the players are happy on having a great season this term as their displays have been a far cry from the disappointments in the previous campaign. The manager insisted that the team has learnt
from the mistakes made against Augsburg last week and are determined to perform this time around.
The tactician is confident that the team will show the fans what they are capable of in the next game and is hopeful that Schalke win the crucial fixture. The home side will secure an automatic place in the UEFA Champions League
next year if they win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536.
“It's in our own hands. Every player who takes to the field against Hertha will give his all. The lads want to give something back to the fans and reward themselves for a great season. We've analysed the 1-1 draw at Augsburg. We
talked about the good bits but also about the things that didn't go so well, such as our defensive behaviour at set pieces,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to the official website.
Stevens added that Hertha are also desperate for a win as they need to avoid relegation so it will not be an easy task to beat them.
“We know what situation Hertha find themselves in. They'll come out highly motivated and fighting to keep their chances alive. We have to focus on what we do,” he concluded.
Schalke will host Hertha Berlin on Saturday, April 28, at the Veltins-Arena.
