The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues’ manager insists that his side needs to continue the winning run against Mainz but admitted that it will not be easy.
Schalke face FSV Mainz in this weekend’s Bundesliga clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 at Veltins-Arena. The home side will be in search of their 14th win of the season and will certainly be looking to pile on the pressure on the
likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the top spot.
Stevens hailed his side for some impressive performances this season and is confident that his team has the quality to contend for the Bundesliga title at the end of the season. The boss warned his side against complacency and
refused to get carried away with the brilliant form. He insisted that there will be a lot of hard work if the team wants all three points in the clash against Mainz.
“We are heading in the right direction, but we do still take the odd step backwards. When you are up at the top, then that always gives your opponent extra motivation. But my players know this and they have worked well. In order
to win our next game, we are going to have to give it 110% from the very beginning,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven tactician added that Thomas Tuchel’s side is not an easy opposition to play against as they have a great attack. He stated that the opposition cannot be underestimated at any cost and the players will have
to play their natural game to secure all three points in the match.
“Mainz are very good in defence and they hit you hard and must not be taken lightly. We must not underestimate Mainz, but we are a team and the players understand what needs to be done for success,” he concluded.
Schalke won their previous match against FC Koln after going a goal down in the opening minutes of the match. The side scored four times after the interval to make sure they stay on the heels of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund
for the top spot.
