I did the 011 then 44 and the number then it said it was connecting me and did some double ring for a minute then hung up on me?

Dial 011 44 + city code + phone number

make sure the phone number is right, as well as the country/area codes, check the phone book as well, they will mostlikely have contry/area codes listed

All UK area code numbers start with 0, ie London is 0207, but if you are calling from abroad after the national code 0044 you DO NOT dial the next 0, so it would be 0044207 then the rest of the number.

Dont know what the 011 bit is but I assume that is a long distance code for Canada, so I am not sure whether you need the 00 before the 44.
