If you're serious about making good grades, then you easily can.  You will have to make school a priority.  While socializing is important, your grades should be most important!  

That means paying attention in class.  Taking notes when the teacher is lecturing or writing on the board or overhead.  Review your notes each night for a few minutes so the info is fresh in your mind.  

Going to class prepared with your book, notebook, homework.  Stay organized.  The easiest way is to keep a large single three-ring binder with dividers, so everything is in one place.

Using your study hall time wisely to get work done to cut down on the amount of work you have to do at home.  Spend some time EACH night reviewing what you covered in class.  That way, when a big test come, you won't have to cram the night before because you've been studying all along.  

Hang around kids who take their school work seriously. Have study groups to help each other.

Join clubs and organizations to be involved.  Students who are involved in their school's activities make better grades and have happier high school experiences.

Seek help if you need it.  Most teachers are more than willing to work with you after school if you make prior arrangements with them.

first, lay off the texting lingo. teachers hate that. second, try to keep yourself away from any sorts of distractions. Try studying when no one is home. Peace and quiet really makes a difference. Trust me.
