Hwang Jong Soo advances into Men’s Singles main round of Badminton Asia Championships 2013
Korea’s emerging player Hwang Jong Soo remained consistent in his positive play and reached into Men’s Singles main round after defeating Cambodia’s Pisey Sim in qualifying round of Badminton Asia Championships 2013 on Tuesday, April 16, in Chinese Taipei.
The un-seeded Hwang Jong, who remained unbeaten in the arena, displayed his impressive skills on court and remained successful in punishing Pisey in a completely dominating manner by taking just 20 minutes in the arena.
Korean player started his run in a dominating manner by playing at his best speed. He did not commit any mistake and easily grabbed a comprehensive victory in straight sets with a smashing margin of 21-7 and 21-13.
Meanwhile, Pisey could not play positive badminton in the opening game and lost it easily. However, he showed a few glimpses of his brilliance in the following set but not enough to escape defeat from his Korean rival in a lopsided manner.
The impressive speed and attacking strokes of Hwang Jong assisted him to take control of the pace right from the initial points of opening game.
The tempo of the rallies was quite fast in first game and Hwang Jong impressed local fans with his lofty craft. He took the bird early and placed his shots in targeted areas with greater level of precision and accuracy.
Hwang Jong progressed with an impressive speed in the first half and remained ahead on the board until the one-minute interval.
Pisey tried his best to play positive badminton but failed to take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding part.
Hwang Jong was very calm and composed in the arena as he did not take pressure and ended up the first game with an excellent margin of 21-7.
Pisey worked hard to play positive badminton in the starting half of second set but he failed to construct pressure on his rival.
The cracking smashes and net killings kept Hwang Jong ahead of his opponent all the way until the one-minute break in second game.
In the ending part of second game, the incredible Hwang Jong continued his comfortable ride and easily bagged the set with a huge difference of 21-13.
