Hwo do actors remember there lines?

Do they just remember the lines for the scenes they are doing or what?

  1. Actors remember their lines because it is their job to do so.  They learn by reciting the lines over and over, or rehearsing the scenes with other actors.  By the time a play is up and running, they can remember all of thei lines and some of the other actors - especially if they are having a conversation.  They need to know their cue to speak, and their own lines too.


  2. when i was doing a play in school and had to memorize the rime of the ancient marriner(10pg poem) all i did was take one line at a time and would not go to the next line unless i had finished the first and knew it by heart. besides, actors only do scenes so they don't have to memorize the whole movie, just the one they are shooting at that moment.

  3. they just keep reciting them until they know them by heart. its the same way you remember song lyrics or whatever.
