  1. If you're asking that question you probably should'nt be getting either. DO YOUR RESEARCH

  2. If you don't know the answer to this question, you're really not ready for either one. It's got nothing to do with "fun". Birds aren't toys --- they're not always "FUN". They ARE always challenging. It has NOTHING to do with price, either.

These two birds are so different, you cannot even compare them. Hys are HUGE and require an equally huge cage.  Greys are temperamental and extremely sensitive to all kinds of things. If you've never had anything bigger than a cockatiel, you should cross both these bigger birds off your list for a while.

  3. maybe you should get both?!!!!! Or get one that's in your budget. No, just because its cheaper, doesn't mean a not as fun. They are just not as exotic as the other bird;that's all. Make sure you gets books on them or which one you decide to get. Reading helps;a lot!!!

    hope I helped!!!

  4. Don't get a bird!  Get a puppy instead.  I got an Eclectus parrot without knowing anything about it.  I read up on it and I'm doing an Ok job with him, but I feel like it's unnatural for birds to be in cages now that I see him every day, masturbating on his toys and screeching when certain people walk past his cage.  He was never abused, and we take him out the cage and talk to him and try to give him a good diet, but the mess is unbelievable!!!!!  Each time a guest comes over, he squawks repeatedly while the dog barks and we can't even speak.  Too many bird owners end up selling off the bird after they get tired of them, and believe me, the mess  and noise get very old!!!  And expensive toys!!!  The purchase price is just a drop in the bucket.  I won't sell off my bird because I don't think that's fair.  I just do my best to keep him content and healthy, but if I could do it again, I wouldn't have.  Adopt a dog or cat from your local shelter.

  5. You shouldn't even be getting a bird if you don't know this.  A hyacinth macaw is a beautiful bird, but can be a very big hand ful.  They are extremely expensive.  A Grey, while it is cheaper, can keep you entertained every minute of the day.  They are excellent talkers, and can learn to do some tricks pretty easily.  Both birds require attention and a lot of maintenance.  The macaw will require a lot more room and a larger cage than a grey.  The macaw can be very destructive due to his size, although a Grey can do some damage too, but not on the scale that the macaw will.  Neither birds are for first time bird owners with no experience..Please read my profile

  6. Hys are are 3 times as expensive as Greys.  They are also about 4x as loud as a Grey. Consider your ears and your Neighbors.  If this is a first time bird. I wouldn't recommend either.  If you insist a Grey is better. A Pionus would be a better bird they are very sweet, they do talk if so inclined. Do not ever get a bird for their talking ability, you may be disappointed. I have a Grey, who doesn't have much too say, its not that he can't he just chooses not to.  I am not disappointed because he is the sweetest most loving bird. . Then again a lot of Greys are not.  So you never know what you are getting when you get a bird. It is like having a baby you just never know.  So take your time do your research. Bigger Birds Bigger Cages Bigger Toys a lot  more expense. Don't get a bird and then sell him a month cause he just didn't fit.  It is not fair to the bird.
