Can I buy the powertrain for a hybrid or electric car?

Are there kit cars to make a Ferrari or Cobra style car?

Can a hybrid have two engines, one front, one rear, to make a HOT ROD?

  1. probably not a kit at the moment, i dont know. but what i can tell you is that when there is a will there is a way. if you set your mind to it eventually will happen. you might just have to wait till technology gets there. if you want it that bad you'll find the answers. there can be multiple ways of making a powerful hybrid no doubt. you can do anthing once you set your mind to.multiple engines isn't out of the question, could work or another could be amplifacation, of single engine.

  2. your treading on new ground here, the biggest problem you would face is how to overcome the weight of two engines all the while getting the fuel effieciency that u would get while using the hybrid engine

  3. Hybrids have two engines, one is an internal combustion engine and the other is electric.  They both usually drive the same power train.

There are some differences in design from manufacturer to manufacturer, Honda puts them both on the same crank shaft and Toyota interfaces them through the transmission.  Honda's is a full time electric AND gas engine while Toyota will alternatively have them both operate at the same time, either one or the other, or none on at all based on the vehicle needs for the conditions of the moment.

Having one drive power the rear and the other the front would be more difficult to manage than having them both drive an all wheel drive train from a single power access point because you would be confronted with making the two motors synchronize their output and electric motors have very different power curves than gas engines.

Generally the drive trains by themselves are not out there yet except used and maybe from a junk dealer who has a wreck.

Yes there are kit cars that copy Ferrari and Cobra's but that is a separate issue and those kits are usually designed for conventional chassis's.

  4. as far as ferrari kit cars id recommend this one because it actually looks decent. for a ferrari.. for lambo its easier i think check out their site they actually copied the shell of a ferrari to make the apnels so its the same size, i still dont get how they work it with the donor car its a pegueot 406 not available in the us tho :( they do sell it in mexico but i dunno price should be steep as its luxury, seems to be the only major issue, side bby side looks great tho if i had the money id do it it really mimics a ferrari 360

as far as hybrid powertrains go all i know right now is they only sell addons and upgrades for existing gs motors such as the ford escape but dont sell you the actual powertrain, ive been researching all day to no avail, if you find something please tell me, the timings on my miata is messed up, due to a crankshaft issue the engine should give out soon id rather just switch the whole thing out but nothings out yet =(

  5. Hotrod hybrid ? is that an oxymoron
