Can reptiles of different genus' hybridize? Such as an african fat tailed gecko and a leopard gecko?

I'm just wondering, so don't whine and tell me not to make a hybrid or 'play god'.

  1. Sure I have a hybrid lizard. It runs on regular gasoline and electricity.

  2. animals of the same genus can be bred together. ornate and cranwels horned frogs have been bred together to make fantasy horned frog - hybrids are infertile though or are all one s*x xD.

people have bred different kinds of rat snakes together so you get corn/rat crosses. you also get some water dragons hybridizying(<--- a realy word?!) such as australian and ummm....lol.... the otehr kind of water dragon :P

  3. Yes it's possible.  It's been done with Carpet pythons (Morelia spilota cheynei) and ball pythons (Python regius) to develop Carpalls (jungle carpet/ball pythons hybrid).

Such hybrids may be incapable of reproducing (sterile).

Although breeding has been done between species of seperate genus, it's not possible in every case. They must be similar enough to one another.

  4. I have never seen a leo x aft hybrid but I'm not really into them so it might be possible. I have definitely seen rhacodactylus ciliatus (crested) gecko x rhacodactylus chahoua crosses. They look pretty sweet sometimes. Here is a link to some of them though.
