  1. the answer is E), ADP

    ATP=adenosine triphospate (3 phosphate groups)

    ADP=adenosine diphosphate (2 phosphate groups)

    after ATP is broken down to be used as energy for cell metabolism (essential cell processes), it releases one phosphate group and becomes ADP. ADP (low energy) is then reconverted back into ATP (high energy) through a process called the TCA cycle.


  2. The answer is E. ADP is Adenosine diphosphate, which is a nucleotide.  Hydrolysis of ATP also produces an inorganic orthophosphate, but it's not one of the answers, and I'm over-complicating things.
