Question:

Hydroplaning, wreck, but witness backs me up?

I had a wreck tonight. I took a right and hydorplaned into someone about to turn left. It was at a four way redlight. I immediately thought that I was at fault. However a witness claims that he saw the car I hit was slightly in my lane.

Who is at fualt then? Clearly I hydroplaned into the guy so wouldnt it be mine? But I called the officer and told him I wanted that part the witness mentioned in the police report.

I only have liability, and this car is my crutch for getting anywhere at all. What do you think will happen now?

  1. hi there... The fact that you aquaplaned casued the wreck.  It doesnt mater if the other car was sighly out of its lane. It was stationary .  I take it...  The aqualaneing will be looked at as you were driving to fast for the road conditions. Thats the fact of the matter in the eyes of the insurance.

They will not pay for the damage to your car anyway oly for damage you cause..

  2. If you're lucky... the officer will cite you both at fault.. usually at a percentage (60% - 40%)

  3. Four way red light is the same as a four way stop. You were supposed to stop let the person turn left. I bet its 100% your fault.

  4. Sorry but it sounds, as if it was your fault.  IE: Failure to have car in control, going to fast for conditions, inattentive driving, etc.

  5. if you hydroplaned at a red light intersection you were going way to fast for the conditions and you will probably be cited for that

  6. probably both of you were hydropklaning. and you are suppose to yeild to traffic which are making a left turn if you take a right turn unless you had a seperate lane with a keep moving sign, then it applies to whoever was bhind the other, or if they got in your lane

  7. You will still be considered at fault:-(

  8. If he was sitting still when you slid or hydroplaned into him you did not have your car under control as it will be your fault.
