Hydroponics/agriculture in outer space...?

I need to write a speech for an ag. class that I'm taking, but i'm having trouble narrowing down my topic. I'm really into futuristic things, and different scientific-related agriculture study in space. I WAS thinking about doing something with hydroponics in space, but I'm having a LOT of trouble finding information on it. So I guess what I'm asking is what other scientific study are scientists doing in outer space?

Thanks so much!

  1. Hear are a couple of articles om Aeroponics, the method they have been working on for farming with zero gravity. Might make a good speech.

  2. Well, although it was a failed experiment, the Biosphere 2 concept was a good stab at what you are talking about -- growing plants in space to ensure humans' survival.  Although this occurred on Earth, it was supposed to advance human space travel and survival studies.  Here is a bit about them... hopefully in their research you can find some leads to write more about your topic.  Great idea.  Good luck.

  3. They could do that in bubble cities. But they have to find local water streams to make it suitable for farming.

Scientists are studying about how life can do in outer space.

  4. Research the Bio-dome work, some of that should work in space.
