Hydroponics questions.?

So I want to start growing Marijuana. I live in a place where its legal to grow. I here people talking about hydro and im not quite sure what it is. I know it has something to do with growing in water but i want to know exactly what it is how you do it and does it make your weed more potent/better in any way?

Hydroponics is growing without soil.

There are different techniques. The best thing I can do is give you the link below. Although it is a UK site, it has technical info about the different hydro systems (NFT, flood & drain etc etc)

Basically you suspend the plant in a media (such as rockwool) and the water and nutients are provided to the roots. This often gives high yealds (it does depend on a few variables) but all in all it's better than soil because you have complete control over the whole grow from vegging to flowering.
