Hye Jin Kim captures Women’s 100m breast-stroke title in Tokyo: 2011 FINA World Cup
The final round of the seven stops FINA World Cup series saw thrilling swims in Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, November 12. Hye Jin Kim of Korean captured Women’s 100m breast-stroke crown, while Daiya Seto of Japan pocketed Men’s 400m IM title.
Jin Kim was combating with her two strongest rivals of competitive swimming including Leiston Pickett of Australia and Kanako Watanabe of Japan, as Kim splashed hard by smacking the finishing wall in an impressive time of 1 minute and 05.37 seconds to win
the Women’s 100m breast-stroke title.
Pickett pocketed silver medal in a time of 1 minute and 05.41 seconds, while Watanabe settled for bronze title in a mark of 1 minute and 05.69 seconds.
Mina Matsushima of Japan earned fourth place honours by knocking the finishing blockade in a mark of 1 minute and 06.52 seconds. Saya Fujimoto of Japan and Joline Hoestman of Sweden settled at fifth spot in a matching blot of 1 minute and 06.69 seconds.
Hitomi Nose of Japan grabbed seventh place in a time of 1 minute and 06.95 seconds, whereas, Sayuna Sugiyama of Japan earned eighth place in a spot of 1 minute and 07.10 seconds.
Afterwards, in the Men’s 400m IM final heat, Daiya Seto of Japan knocked out his rivals, Kousuke Hagino of Japan and Markus Rogan of Austria by thumping the finishing wall in a mouth shattering time of 4 minutes and 02.44 seconds to claim the gold title.
After the swim, Hagino was placed at second spot in a time of 4 minutes and 03.59 seconds and Rogan earned bronze medal in a blot of 4 minutes and 06.84 seconds, respectively.
Yuya Horihata of Japan banged the finishing blockade in a time of 4 minutes and 11.08 seconds to get fourth position, while Yousuke Mori of Japan settled at fifth place in a mark of 4 minutes and 11.48 seconds. Finally, victorious athletes including Hye
Jin Kim and Daiya Seto were awarded gold medals along with cash prizes after the end of the session.
The seven stop World Series is set to close by November 13, 2011.
