Hye Won Eom and Ye Na Jang clinch Women’s Doubles title in the 2011 Korea Open GP Gold
Korea’s young and talented shuttlers, Hye Won Eom and Ye Na Jang have made their mark as they have clinched Women’s Doubles title after beating Singapore’s Shinta Mulia Sari and Lei Yao in the final of the 2011 Korea Open GP Gold, on Sunday, December 11,
in Korea.
The un-seeded Koreans played wonderful badminton as they proved that they have achieved elevated skills as they crushed the higher ranked Singaporeans in a striking fashion. With a superb display of fabulous game, Hye Won and Ye Na won the final match in
straight games by taking the court time for 45 minutes.
From the opening points, the Koreans established their supremacy in the game and won the first set with a difference six points. In the second game of the match, the Singaporeans put up strong show but not enough to dominate the pace of the game. The Koreans
won the second set with a comfortable difference.
The first set started in a wonderful way as the Koreans remained aggressive and managed to put pressure on the fourth seeded pair of Singapore. Hye Won and Ye Na played to their full potential and built a small lead in the first half.
In the following part of the first game, the Singaporean duo tried to level the score but failed as the Koreans spared no room for them to make a comeback in the game. Hye Won and Ye Na ended up the opening set in a wonderful fashion by putting up a 21-15
score on the board.
In the second set of this title match, Singaporean pair started to play with aggression and remained close to their local opponent. Until the one-minute break in the second game, both sides remained close by playing at the same speed.
After the break, Hye Won and Ye Na accelerated their speed and dominated the rallies at the net. They pushed their higher ranked challengers on the back foot and maintained pressure throughout the game.
The Koreans played with precision and ended the second game with a margin of 21-16. The overall result of this Women’s Doubles final contest was 21-15 and 21-16.
