Hype around Super Bowl puts Peyton Manning issue on back burner, for timebeing atleast – NFL News
The hype and festivities in the week leading to the Super Bowl game between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 05, 2012, had put the issue of Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, on the back burner, for the time
being atleast.
The silence, which was seen more evident on the part of Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, who had opted out of saying nothing around the recovery and return of Peyton to his team, is expected to break in the days following to the Super Bowl event.
With a report here and there attributed to people around the player during the past week nothing much had come about the future of the Manning with or without Colts.
Irsay before last week had disclosed to be having a meeting with the player within a week after the Super Bowl and it is now yet to be seen if that meeting takes place now.
The expected issue on the agenda of the meeting is the payment of $28 million bonus to player and the final decision on it will be determine the future courses for both parties.
Jim Irsay has to decide if he is going to make the payment by its deadline of March 08, 2012 and if not, the player will have the option of going free agency.
Some reports have claimed that a decision on the future of Peyton at Colts has already been made by Irsay and his managers, weeks ago, and according to those reports, they have decided to move beyond the era of Peyton Manning.
Both parties have most of the time during the Super Bowl week had remained silent on the issue despite that it had been kept alive by the media, with a couple of statements from Peyton family in his support.
Since the Super Bowl event was being organized in the Indianapolis and the Manning family was in the town to support their younger member, Eli Manning, the New York Giants’ quarterback, Peyton Manning, remained in the focus of fans as well as mediamen.
In and around the campaign of the Super Bowl event, the Indianapolis have expressed their desire of seeing Peyton Manning back to their side. Many of them have publically spoken of their support to Manning’s return to Colts.
It is yet to be seen how much the Manning-supporting voices influence Colts owner in his decision about the future of the quarterback.
In case the player is not retained to the side, he has options of moving to elsewhere. The New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins have already shown interest in pursuing signing of the player if he is released by his team.
Without an independent confirmation, some reports have hinted at the possibilities of Peyton himself being interested to joining the Dolphins after cut lose by the Indianapolis Colts.
