I just started hypermiling in my car and was looking for some tips and pointers.

This is what currently do in my manual automatic car -

1. In the city i never get my car above 2K RPM's this keeps me at or below speed limit at all times.

2. Turn off my car at long lights (illegal in some states)

3. Put my car in neutral and coast when necessary

4. hardly ever use the brakes

5. On the freeway I use cruise control

Anything else i am missing?

  1. Not really beyond the warm air intake and aero mods to lower the drag coefficient.

  2. Sounds like a waste to me.

Have you noticed any MAJOR fuel economy increase?

Because for the amount of stuffing around you are going through, you would want to.

It sounds like you would be a rolling road block and you would certainly annoy other motorists.

You never rev over 2K in the city? How long does it take you to get from one set of traffic lights to another?

Im betting you will wear a battery out shortly, and then the replacement cost of that will destroy any minute fuel saving you would have made.
