  1. As a psychologist who uses hypnosis with some people, I can vouch for the fact that it works ... when, amongst other things -

someone is motivated for change and

there is no conflict of interest for the client, eg. more to be got from not changing, that has not been addressed

you get a new pattern of living that at least satisfies the older motivations for smoking etc.  - eg. rest, social connections, etc.

Smoking is also a physiological addiction, so this needs to be appreciated too.  Hypnosis cds/tapes etc. can help, but I would recommend working with someone, as there may be deep seated psychological connections with longer-term habits like smoking.  I smoke, but haven't decided the right time for me to quit is here yet.  I will use hypnosis when I'm ready, as I have helped many to quit, and have made major changes to my life with it.

    Good luck! Rob

  2. Why don't you try Paul McKenna's self hypnosis CD? He has really helped me with confidence, self esteem etc. I know he does one specifically for smoking. It would be much cheaper than going to a hypnotist & you can listen to the CD whenever it suits you at home (the more often you do it the better). It's very relaxing & totally safe to do. Hypnotism isn't the scary thing that most people imagine it to be, it is very relaxing & enjoyable. It's just like day dreaming & you are completely in control at all times.

  3. Nahhhh...!!!
