Hypoglycemia question.?

I am an almost 14 year old (I'll be 14 on Sept. 1 :) ) and I have hypoglycemia. If lunch at school is too late I have to get out of class and eat something and it can be kind of embarrassing. Any advice about living with hypoglycemia? (I got it a year ago but I'm still getting used to it at school.)

  1. Have you been checked for diabetes? If not it sounds like it might be advisable.

  2. When you say you have hypoglycemia, what you mean is "I feel really hungry" - they are not the same thing. I sometimes get really hungry and shaky and my blood sugar level is perfectly normal. It's a common sensation in young girls/women, especially if they're quite slim and active. Try eating food with lots of protein and fibre and as little sugar as possible - this will fill you up for longer
