Hypotheical question if i search for someone will that person know i searched for them?

if i went on the internet and search on places like facebook friendster, myspace, reunion site, will the site tell them i search for a particular someone or is there a third-party site out there that tells them so and so is looking for you.

i have neer heard of something like that happening so i would say that its very unlikely, it would voilate the matter of privacy on the internet plus i dont think anyone really wants to know that badly who googles them or something
