I read a question (a stupid one) about a change in plot of the 7th book, i.e., 'if they story went like...', and I was thinking, what if Harry died, and re united with his parents?
I figured Voldemort would kill Harry, as he sacraficed himself to Voldemort, and he would die, and would go to the afterlife and be re united with his parents.
But, the amount of power it took to kill Harry would leave Voldemort powerless, and here's the catch: Voldemort would lose his power because of the power of love.
In the first book, when Harry & friends serve detention in the Forbidden Forest and discover Voldemort was drinking unicorn blood (in Quarell's body), they meet Firenze, who tells him that about how those who drink Unicorn blood live a 'cursed life - a half life', and even though it provides the drinker immortality, they are also cursed because of killing something 'so pure and defensless to save yourself'. So, because the act of killing a unicorn is so evil, the act itself is a curse on the drinker, and creates a new weakness to the immortal drinker: loss of nature's sympathy (for killing the pure and defensless out of greed), meaning nature itself will not forgive the one who killed the unicorn because the act was so unpure.
