You have been at your job for several years. It is the job you have always wanted and you love it. When it comes time to receive a cost of living raise, the company decides that it cannot afford it. Instead they offer to increase your benefits. Does this affect your job performance any?

  1. well i maybe wouldnt go the extra mile to impress the people who were supposed to give me the raise...but i would still do my job the right way

  2. yup. i might only be able to get a few things done a day.  They can only afford so much money, well i can only afford so much time.

  3. If the company can't afford to give you a mere cost of living raise, something is wrong.

This leaves no room for any other raise for you in the future. And if this company can't afford that, then your benefits were nothing to brag about already, maybe even inadequate.

If your salary can't keep up with your bills that are increasing, you're in a bad situation. If you love this job so much, they should love you back and do what they're supposed to do. Otherwise, find new work.

  4. Well, I guess that depends upon if you are happy with that option.  Many people would prefer to actually take a smaller salary if benefits are included.  It would make sense that if this is an acceptable alternative to no cost of living raise that your job performance would remain unchanged.

  5. no....

  6. for a couple of days yes, in the long term no

  7. No because at least they offered you something they show their appreciation some how for you if they really couldn't afford it they really didn't have to give you any thing be lucky you have a job you love and look forward to getting up in the morning for because that is very unamerican most of them hate their jobs

  8. no

  9. Well, sure it would!  If a company can't afford to give even a cost of living raise, then I'd be looking for another job!!!

  10. no i wouldn't care really what they do if i love my job, as long as i get enough money to live off of.

  11. Nah, if they increased my benefits, dental, health vacation, etc. I wouldn;t be too bothered by it. If they gave me the shaft and handed me nothing to meet cost of living then yah, I'd be mad. Although, I would probably look for another job if the current pay wasn't meeting my cost of living and I had to scrimp and save to just get by.

  12. not really

Our co went without giving raises for 4 yrs!!!

You can always quit.........and find something else

  13. That would make me wonder that the company might not be doing so well if that were the case.
