Its time to start thinking and planning for it. What should people do in their daily life? What can business do? How can suburban cities and towns survive? Answers ie: People should carpool, business ship orders only once a month, suburban towns should plan on being self sufficient.

  2. excuse me while I laugh....we have had gas at USD 9 in the UK for months now.  You are not in a bad place with USD 4 gas!

You'll survive, you'll adjust.  Already the market for new vehicles in US has changed significantly, from "big is good" (SUV, trucks) to "how many miles per gallon" focus.

  3. Well, won't be able to drive to work.  Bus here isn't much cheaper, assuming that'll go up too (It's currently $2.00 each way and takes me an hour and a half to get to work by bus vs. 20 minutes in a car).  Guess we'll have to walk to the store and only buy what we can carry.  If I can't find a job in walking distance in the next year I guess I'll have to forsake legal means and find more "creative" ways of providing for my family.

  4. i would either be biking to work or taking the bus.

  5. You Americans disgust me, first u are the largest consumer of oil products in the world,  and now since India and China have started developing and consuming oil u r getting worried. People in other countries died while your government carried out policies  to keep Ur fragile lives problem free.

  6. Efficiency is the key to every situation, and the energy crisis is no exception. Surburbia has many means of being more efficient, such as a move towards solar and wind energy. The black ashphalt and dark colored shingled roofs are plenty of attraction for solar rays, making solar panels are no-brainer. Many complain that the price of solar panels are too high - get the government involved? As stated earlier the U.K. pays $9 a gallon, how much do we pay? $4 - why is this? The government. The government could easily adjust the price of solar panels to make them more affordable.

Self-sufficient cities ARE POSSIBLE - a city in Sweden has already done it! They use tidal action from the nearby waters, geothermic vents, biomass recycling, wind power, and solar energy! Their energy input is equal to their energy output.

The need to wean ourselves off the gasoline teat and onto cleaner, more efficient fuels is ciritical. Hydrogen is very close to being put into public use. Hydrogen is a very efficient fuels that burns very clean - it emits water! Hydrogen would be a renewable energy source that also cuts down on greenhouse gases, a twofold maneuver that would solve the energy crisis AND global warming!

In conclusion, the energy crisis is here and we need to solve it! How? By using every means at our disposable to move toward clean efficient fuel! I'm going to do it, will you be there to help me?
