Hypothetically would Islamic Sharia deter crime?

If they cut the thiefs hand off and killing robbers and rapests. Whould that stop crime? Would hejab reduce rape? Thats what muslims believe. I know it is cruel but will is realy stop crime because i m nt so sure if that is true.

Everyone gets their chance to try and do it their way. Nothing can really stop crime. Its going to be there as long as the human race is there. Are the more so-called lenient laws really succeeding in stopping crime? I don't think so. They can only cut the crime Rate, but not the crime itself. Crime is a reality.

the fact that crimes exist in these muslim countries irrespective of the laws - it means it will still happen.  the fact that such cruel laws exist reflect the severity of the problem in society.  

some muslim countries hv a high rape %.

probably 'cos their religion teaches nothing but s*x.  its all centred on that theme.  hence forbidden fruit taste sweeter and so it goes on.

it boils down to education and proper interpretation of the holy text and its relevance to modern society
