Is there a correlation?

If I were to get one because I don't want anymore children, would my religion (Judao-Christianity) frown upon it?

  1. You don't need a hysterectomy.  Just get your tubes tied...

  2. You are doing a right thing. The world is overpopulated.

  3. It would depend on which denomination of Christian you are. Some, like the Catholic church, believe sterilization is a sin. Others do not. I'm not sure what Judaism has to say on the subject, but I'm guessing it probably varies from Reform to Orthodox Jews just like in Christianity.

  4. No. Why would they? I think only the Catholics have an issue with birth control.

  5. not wanting to have anymore children, is no reason to have a surgical procedure.  It is your state of mind that that is in need of spiritual enlightenment, according to the the will of the Lord.  Your not to destroy the body that God has given you.  To maintain health, you need every organ God has given.  But, refrain from abusing what God has given you, or it will become diseased.

    God Bless!

  6. It is acceptable in Catholicism if it is done because of a disease of the uterus.  But not as a form of birth control.

  7. If my wife didn't have hers and she died, would she be guilty of self suicide?  Please, consider the answers you ask prayerfully to God and have him lead you.

  8. Hysterectomy is probably not the way to go- rather extreme. I suggest you have a tubal ligation.

Edit- I had my tubes tied when I was 25 and knew for certain I did not want any more children. Even getting that took my signing a statement that said I would not come back and sue the doctor if I changed my mind in the future.

At 31 I had to have a hysterectomy because of a fibroid tumor. This meant even if I had wanted to try to have another child by having my tubes reattached I could not.

I don't know any doctors who will perform a hysterectomy just because a woman does not want more children.
