Hyypia targets Champions League football

The Bayer Leverkusen manager is aiming to qualify for Europe at the end of the next campaign and admits that the Champions League would be a plus.
Werkself ended the previous season in fifth place after a brilliant end to the campaign under Sami Hyypia and Sascha Lewandowski. The side finished the season with four wins and two draws and hence, qualified for the UEFA Europa
League.
Hyypia claimed that the team’s target at the end of the upcoming season would be to qualify for Europe once again. The former Liverpool player added that a finish in the top four would surely be an added bonus for his side, but
the aim is to qualify for the Europa League again.
The manager insisted that the players had the experience of playing in Europe’s premier club competition last season as they reached the knock-out stages before being beaten by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
“Our target is to play European football again next season. When we do that, then we will have matched our target. Of course the Champions League would be nice; last season when the players played in the Champions League they realised
how big it is and how great it is to play in the Champions League,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Finland-c2898 international is keen to introduce a winning mentality in the team and is hopeful that the players can achieve what they are capable of at the end of the campaign. He intends to focus on one game at a time and
is looking forward to the clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.
“As a player I wanted to win every game and I've taken that mentality into this situation. I think it is better to only concentrate on the next game and try to win that, and if we do that I am a happy man,” he concluded.
Sami Hyypia made 318 league appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC and scored 22 goals in the process. The former defender finished his career at Bayer Leverkusen after making 53 league appearances for the Factory Squad in the two years
he spent at the BayArena.
