I like variety of options: Discotheques, restaurants, bars, museums, nature/parks, or just take a walk and drink a cup of cofee

  1. I've never been to Nantes, but perhaps this website may be of interest to you: http://www.nantes-tourisme.com/jsp/fiche...

  2. Hi, i live in Nantes, it's not such a big city and there is not much to visit, (it's actually nice to live there) but there are a lot of nice places.

It's easy to move in this town. From Commerce, you go wherever you want with the tram or the bus.

    "COMMERCE" is the town center.

Once there, you can take the bus number 54, get out at the station "BOULEVARD DES ANGLAIS" and enjoy the most beautiful park of the city, it's called "Procé". It's a big, calm and beautiful park with many flowers where people go when the weather is nice.

It's not New York but it's a nice place to spend a few hours ^^

Then, always from Commerce, you walk right across the street and there is the district called "BOUFFAY".

It's a wonderful little labyrinth where you will find all types of restaurants, bars... all people from Nantes go there when they dine out or just hang out with friends.

Right at Commerce, i recommend the restaurant "L'ENTRECOTE" , it's SO NICE. you pay 16 euros and you can only eat meat with fries, but it's DELICIOUS and you can have unlimited fries. Their sauce is delicious, they keep the secret of its making since generations.

So, a little expensive but you will go out of there with the impression of coming out of paradise.

The meat (roasting) is delicious too.

Always from Commerce, ask for the "PLACE ROYALE", it's just a little place with a fountain, but very classy and nice, where you can sit and eat. At night the fountain shines with colors, it's BEAUTIFUL.

From the Place Royale you can go up to the street "RUE CREBILLON", where you'll find all luxury shops, jewellery, fashion.....

At the end of the "rue crébillon" there is the PLACE GRASLIN (pronounce gralin), where the theater of Nantes is. It's a nice place too, but less charming than place royale.

Right to Graslin there is this bar called "Metropolitan", it's cool, you can go downstairs and feel like you're in the tube.

Always from commerce, ask how to go to the "ILE GLORIETTE", (gloriette island), it's very charming, there is a japanese garden (JARDIN JAPONAIS) that is beautiful.

If you like bars and discos, other than in the Bouffay district, ask how to go to the HANGAR A BANANES (bananas shed). It's a new place built on the embankment of the Loire (the Nantes river). The bars are all lined up and have all different themes, there is the spanish bar, the fashion bar, the "violent music" bar... and at the end of the quay you have the biggest disco of all western France, called the "L.C. CLUB".

I've never been there but it's supposed to be very big and quite cool.

There is the beach an hour from Nantes. I recommend PORNIC, it's quieter than LA BAULE (which you will probably hear of, but there are too many people there).

There is the castle of the duchess in Nantes, tram station "DUCHESSE ANNE" on the line 1 (direction BEAUJOIRE).

It's beautiful, and there is a beautiful lawn where you can rest.

Well that's it, Nantes is not much a city you visit but it's very nice to stay, with many many bars and restaurants.

There are a few discos in the Bouffay district, just ask and the people will tell you where to go.

Nantes is a city where most young people live, because the university is the second biggest in France. There are many students. People are very friendly in Nantes, contrarely to Paris for example... you can ask anyone for information, they will be nice.

But attention : frenchmen are bad in english ! ^^

If you don't speak french you will have more chance with young people, they probably will be more likely to be able to answer you^^

There is a museum with stuffed animals called "MUSEUM D'HISTOIRE NATURELLE", it's quite nice, there are a lot of animals. It's always in the center.

i forgot : there is a beautiful cathedral right behind the Bouffay.

All these places i've talked you about are near from Commerce. Just ask people, they will tell you which tram or bus you must take.

Have fun ! I hope you'll enjoy this nice town.
