Santa Fe, N.M. is one of the most expensive towns.  It is like Laguna Beach, Ca., without the ocean.  It is a celebrity town.  I have been there many times, as I used to live in Albuquerque, N.M, and was a Realtor there for 5 years.  I never got into the rental market, but it is going to be hard to find 1 or 2 bedroom apt. for $400.  You might call some apt. finders. Go on the Internet and ask for information about Santa Fe, start with Realtors, and then ask them if they know about the rental charges, or a rental firm.  They will tell you probably, and then just go from there.  Good luck.  Santa Fe is nice, but remember only about one million people plus in the whole state, well, used to be 9 yrs ago., but if you enjoy nature, you will love it.  Lots to do including nature. Not much entertainment, however. I got bored and came back to Ca.
