It depends on your budget, but if you want to stay at Old San Juan, Hotel El Convento is the best stay. But the best hotel areas are at Condado or Isla Verde areas, there's from cheap to very expensive hotels, Isla Verde has Hotel Intercontinental and I stayed there once and its very neat, plus it has Isla Verde Beach right next to the pool area (most hotels in Isla Verde have this layout). There's more hotels in the island, like in Fajardo you can stay at El Conquistador, is a 5-star hotel, and has a private island. PR is big on golf courses, and the best ones are located at Rio Grande, Dorado. It all depends on what kind of trip you're looking for.
