Hi, I just filed a petition for my alien wife overseas in Mongolia, to bring her here in the U.S. I received a notice today from immigration saying they accepted the applications. They also withdraw their FEE from my account too. How long can I expect to wait for their approval? I'm a US citizen (naturalized) and I've been informed that it takes about a year. But some people say it takes years. I'm so paranoid now. Plus they said they might need or ask for additional information. But what can they ask for? I submitted copy of my proof of US citizenship, my & her passport style photos, G325A form for both me and my wife, a translated copy of my marriage certificate (married in Mongolia), and 2 affidavits written by 3rd parties (my step dad US citizen, and my mother-in-law Mongolian citizen). What kind of more documents do i have to prepare for sending to immigration? please help... also on the notice it said that the approval of petition does not guarantee visa... what does this mean? On what circumstances can my wife be denied a visa on her interview? We're both kinda worried. Thanks in help. Plus I make 20.000 a year. i know it's not a lot. but i really need her here. What are my chances? thank you all.

  1. Yak Rider is right on the time frame. The only good news is, by the time her petition has been approved, she'll be able to do the immigrant visa interview in Mongolia, instead of having to go to Seoul, Korea. That's where Mongolians currently go for immigrant visa interviews.

  2. You submitted all you need to submit.

Yes, expect it to take at least a year.
