So i've just graduated from College and am a little lost. I was looking for outdoor related volunteer jobs, such as in camps, etc, where i can help others, and really think. I was wondering what previous jobs you might have had. I know there is habitat for humanity, and even Au Pair jobs, but what else is there.

Payment wise is not important, except that is need to be free for me, since i'm in negitive money due to college, and Room and board is a must, because i have no savings due to college.

Extra spending money, would be nice, but not necessary.

what opportunities are there, and what would you recommend?

My speciality was in Biomedical engineering, but am not yet ready to throw myself into that career just yet.

I would not mind a research oriented job, but my ideal "job" would be like a temporary park ranger, or receptionist at Grand Canyon, or related locations.

Thanks, and i hope you have great advice for me

  1. I would go on Craigs list and search your area or the area you'd like to work in, and then go to jobs, and then click on non profit sector.  You can find camp jobs on that, or like summer jobs.  I was looking on it not that long ago, also i think under etc, there are like nannying jobs and such.  Good luck.

  2. go to monster.com

  3. maybe PeaceCorps is for you. check it out here http://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shel...

  4. Small farms would like that kind of arrangement, look into it.  Contact the local Farm Bureau or county extension group.

  5. The days of work camps where you work in exchange for room and board are long over.

You aren't going to find anything immediately -- jobs with the Forest Service, for instance, are highly sought-after. You will need to be intereviewed and screened, and this takes a while.

    I typed in

    temporary work US forest service

    and

    temporary work US park service

and got all sorts of web sites regarding temporary jobs with both organizations. I recommend you do the same.

    Have you looked into AmeriCorps?

The VISTA program in particular might be of interest to you.

This program does pay a small stipend, but you must make a substantial time commitment.
