I'M NOT ANOREXIC!?????!!!!?!!?

Okay, my friend is worried about me because I am 85 pounds and 5' 5''. I told her I just have small bones, but she thinks I have an eating disorder. We were talking about sizes today and I said I'm a small and don't want to get any bigger. Now she is questioning me. I told her not to worry about me, I'm fine. She doesn't believe me and I think she told her mom, because her mom always looks at me when I have a bathing suit on, when I eat, and always hangs around us and sees if I go to the bathroom after meals.

How do I convince her I'm not anorexic?

  1. i'm 5'1 and 75 lbs.

just tell her you're naturally skinny and not to worry.i know what you mean about not wanting to get bigger. when you're around her, don't talk about your size or weight around her. that's all you can do. you should probably talk to your parents. your mom could call her mom and sort that mess out. whenever i'm in my bathing suit, people do a double take. haha, people don't know how hard it is to be naturally skinny. i always get teased and made fun of. people will come up to me and say 'ew you're skinny' but they don't go up to a fat person and say 'ew you're fat' it's just plain rude. ugh... now you got me alll worked up. sorry just had to vent. haha, well good luck! be healthy and stay strong.

    email me if you want

  2. The fact that you are so concerened that they are concerned makes anyone wonder if you are in fact. I am 5'5" myself and I have a small from and weigh 108 and that is small I would look emaciated weighing any less. I think you need to gain some weight it wouldn't hurt you at all. I would even bet you don't have regular menstrual cycles and if that is the case then you definitly need to gain weight dear.

  3. i have been in recovery from anorexia and i was in denial when i had it ..i was eating no more than 300 cals a day ( max) and at the end i was in bed for 2 days not able to move and i was still in somewhat denial. i finally woke up and realized i was about to die. I am 5'5' and 85 lbs is way to small for ur hight. If u are anorexic plz get help even now i am still in denial anna plays mind games and makes u think that nothing is wrong!

  4. I went through this with my family and still do. I make sure i eat alot infront of them and in no way leave their side or go to the bathroom. You gotta over prove that you dont have a eating disorder. When you say you dont want to get any bigger it worrys me some. I am a size small too but i am 120 pounds and 5'6 and pregnant so you should be an XXS or something. Dont let them make you feel bad. Just show them that you arnt and try not to talk about your weight or how you feel about your body, maybe the thing you should say infront of people is "Gosh i wish i could put on 5 pounds or something", then they will see how you dont think you are fat or anything which by the way are ARE NO WHERE NEAR BIG FAT OR AYTHING LIKE THAT!

  5. Honey...If you really are NOT anorexic, don't worry about it.  I was 5' 6" at 12 years old and did not break 100 pounds until I was 17 years old.  I was not anorexic either.  I just came from a LOOOOOOOONG line of lanky people.  Eventually the hormones will kick in you will gain weight; or not.  It depends more on your metabolism and genetics than anything.

  6. nothing to convince - people will believe what they want. Be confident with yourself and forget what she thinks. She's probably jealous, even though you are severely skinny

  7. Denial is a symptom.

  8. WHY CONVINCE???

who cares what others think... if you KNOW you're not starving yourself to death then you shouldnt worry about it.... and if you really are worried about what her mother or your frend thinks....

well obviously "talking" to your frend about it didnt help, so talking to anyone about it wont help either.... maybe if you just "pigged out" in front of them all the time they'll know, cuz it seems they're not trying to be understanding to you.

  9. THis is WAY too small for your frame.  115lbs is the minimum for a small frame to be healthy.  Anorexic doesn't have to do with throwing up your food.  It has to do with an unhealthy view of yourself.  You think you're healthy, but you're not, that's anorexia.  They'll often not eat enough calories in a day.  I'd suggest seeing a dietician (maybe at school?) just to talk to them to be sure.  You're also very young, I imagine, so it's possible if you have not yet hit puberty that 85 lbs is completely normal if you don't have b***s or curves yet.  I think you're friend is just looking out for you.  THis is very, very small and you could be unhealthy.

  10. well 85 pounds is definatly underweight...i would say just to say you are offended when they say that you are anorexic...also, anorexia is not something to joke about...i speak as an anorexic myself and its not a good life.  tell them how you feel, but i would suggest maybe trying to put on a little weight...

  11. Well, are you?

  12. Yes, denial is a symptom and you are very underweight. If you are not anorexic there is probably something else wrong. At that weight and height you SHOULD want to gain a few pounds...if you don't then you ARE anorexic. Get help for whatever the problem is. Good luck.

  13. I have no idea if you are anorexic or not but, I do have a few things to say. One is how old you are. If you weigh 85 lbs and you are 5' 5", then yoiu are definitely significantly underweight no matter how small your bones might be. If you are more than about 12 years old, you "should" definitely weigh closer to at least 100 lbs if you are as tall as you say. What you haven't said in your question is how much you eat, how often you eat, whether you diet or not, whether you exercise a lot or at all, what your attitude is toward food beyond how much it makes you weigh. I have no idea how you feel about food but, I do know you should weigh more than you do and people are probably legitimate and right to be concerned because eating disorders are very common (and so is denying it) and you must look very thin to everyone. Try hearing people's concern instead of just hearing the worry or annoyance and see if you can work on gaining weight rather than letting us all know how small your bones are.

  14. yepp i'm super skinny to and i get told that all the time.eat ALOT in front of her and then they'll lay off

  15. If you aren't anorexic then don't worry about convincing her.  The more you try to convince and overcompensate, the more you make yourself look like you do have anorexia.  Denial is a huge sign.  You sound like you're trying to convince yourself you aren't anorexic.

And by the way, I'm 5'5" and 170 lbs (I just had a baby so I still have about 15 lbs to loose).  You are very underweight and 85 lbs at your height is unhealthy.  The least you should weight is 110 lbs at your height.
