You don't need a visa as an American for a stay up to 90 days.

The immigration officer may sometimes ask you why you

overstayed in Austria.  Explain to him.

Don't mess with those krauts dude!  I think because they are all EU countries you may have an issue getting into Hungary.

Both countries are members of the Schengen Agreement so by being deported from Austria you are effectively barred from Hungary as well.

In effect you are barred from all Schengen countries. Yes they do send each other details of all deportations. Non Schengen members of the EC will have have been sent your details so consider yourself barred from all 27 EC countries.
