I'd have felt more comfortable if we had Cummins in the line-up, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Rodger-Waugh-c91216 - Cricket News Update

Former Australian captain, Steve Waugh, has once again said that the teenage pace sensation Patrick Cummins will be missed by Australia during upcoming crucial home series against India.
While talking to the media reporters on Monday, the former Australian batsman said that he would have felt more comfortable had a completely fit Cummins been on the roster for India series, adding that his absence could hurt the hosts a lot.
"I'd have felt more comfortable if we had Cummins in the line-up,” Waugh was quoted as saying by a leading http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 daily. “His absence maybe sways the series back to it being a very even contest,” the former Aussie skipper reckoned.
Waugh felt that the absence of the likes of Pat Cummins and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 would take some spark out of the high profile Boxing Day Test against former world number one Test side, India.
"It's a tragedy to think the Boxing Day Test - a showpiece event - won't have http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556,” said the Aussie skipper who led them to record 16 consecutive Test victories in late 1990’s.
"Cummins and James Pattinson, the young guns, going up against the legends would've been worth the price of admission itself,” he added further.
Waugh said that the frequent injuries to the pace bowlers is a cause of concern and urged the team management to be careful while utilizing the fast bowlers. He said that the injury to the sensational express pacer only after a single Test appearance is
shameful for not only the player himself but also for the game and the spectators.
The 46-year-old middle order batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 feels the type of pitches would also play key role in determining the outcome of the matches. Waugh reckoned Indians would struggle on wickets with greentops and urged the curators and Cricket Australia
to be watchful while preparing wickets if they are to keep their record against the world champions.

"India like slow turning, slow tracks and if we dish a few of those up, they'll be hard to beat ... if we get them on green tops and it's bouncing, we'll be right in it," Waugh further added.
