  1. Are you married?  No offense, but raising a child is a huge responsibility!!!  I placed a baby for adoption because I wanted her to have two parents.

If you are married, then by all means go for it!!!

  2. No Offense, but 18 seems a little young to adopt, although I don't know if you legally can, but maybe you could Foster to see if its "really" what you want to do before making it Legal

Best of luck, and praise to you for wanting to Adopt, it's a very unselfish act.

btw, if I had just one more room in my house I would adopt myself.

  3. If you can't even find  a link, you can't adopt.   But if you are just being silly, and seriously thinking this thru...go for it!  The social workers will talk to you and then you can work thru whether or not this is a whim or reality.

Soul searching shouldn't be done on this forum.

  4. Consider your reasons. Life isn't something to play with, especially someody elses. Adopt a job to occupy your time.

  5. If you're 18 than a fifteen year old would really be more of your peer than your child.  Many states do have limits on how much older than you must be than your adopted child.  I don't know specifically about California but I am fairly certain that more than a 3 year age difference would be required.

  6. Most states/agencies/attorneys will not even consider someone under the age of 25.  The reason for this is that in most cases, young adults are out of college, are building their careers, and are becoming independent and financially stable, within their means.

Take the time to do your research. Have you decided on domestic or international? Have you thought about the age of the child, race, if you would accept any disabilities? Attend seminars if you can. Talk with other adoptees and adoptive parents. Find out what you will be facing if you go through with your adoption plan. There will be many challenges in front of you.
