something I could buy to wrap around the leather part of the chair and then zip it up to prevent the chair from getting ruined?

  1. just keep your cat out of the house.

yes, cover for their claws is one way of preventing them to scratch something, but they can use their teeth and bite your leather chair.

put them outside your house to be sure.

  2. Yes keeping your cats outside is ok, but I recommend a suede material that is an alternative to leather, it is softer, warmer, and waaay more durable.  I have two cats and a dog at home and with this chair/couch set I have, it has never been scratched, and I've had it for four years.

  3. May I recommend the claw covers for cats? A friend of mine bought them as an alternative to declawing him.  They prevent him from scratching anything in the house.
