  1. Here is the website for your local Red Cross:

    http://www.desmoines-redcross.org/

  2. try a red cross or ymca

  3. If there is a high school around you rarea they usually have after school training classes like ROP, but you don't have to be a school student to take these classes. They have cpr and emt classes that you can take and sometimes they are free.

  4. Go to the Red Cross and inquire about the CPR/First-Aid course. It's an 8-hour course on CPR and how to respond in different situations.

  5. Yes,, she is right. Other than red cross, you can also try-

  6. Of course there is!!! I'm not from Des Moines. But every state has an American Red Cross. Here is a site with a map of those locations:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=nav...

There are 5 locations. The addresses and phone numbers included. My link isn't showing up blue. So if it doesn't work for some reason. Just google Red Cross in Des Moines which is what I did. You can probably just call any of them to get the information. All CPR and First Aid classes outside of the Red Cross go through them anyways. So if they aren't doing any classes at the time, they should have a list of other facilities that are. I'm not sure about that state, but there will probably be a small fee for the course. I am certified here in Wyoming. And my certification is good for two years. Then it will have to be renewed. Red cross can also give you that information. I'm sure it would just be a refresher. They continue to change the amount of compressions to breaths in CPR. No matter where you get certified, it will be a short course. It could even be just one day. Maybe longer depending on how long the classes are. You should be given a book or print out to keep (included in the fee). And at the end of the course, you will have to take an exam. Probably two seperate tests. One for CPR and one for First Aid. I don't know what you are wanting these skills for. But if you are interested, I suggest taking the entire CNA (Certified Nurses Assistant) course. Which is what I did. It's fairly cheap. Here, the class costed about $300.00 plus a little more for testing. But there should be places you can go through to get your funding. Possibly your town's Job Services would know where. It will give you tons more information. Take about three months. Then you could get a good paying job at any nursing home, home health, or hospital in your area. Good luck.
