Hi all! :)

I live near Paris in France & I would like to go to Sydney for two months in the next year. I'm 17 years old.

Could I find a job when I'm going to be 18 years old ?

Which is the place where I could live?

You can answer me in English. I can understand a little bit English, but I don't know to talk it well, I'm sorry.

Thanks =)

  1. There should be quite a few jobs in Sydney but before you start looking for one, you need to make sure you can legally work here. If there is an Australian embassy near wherever you live, call them and find out how to apply for a working visa. Then start looking for a job and place to live. You'll be fine as long as you have a visa and you can prove that you're able to support yourself here for 2 months. And try to practice your English.

  2. When you have turned 18, you will be able to get a working holiday visa. Most working holiday makers get jobs as waiters or bar staff and that type of work is fairly easy to find and French restaurants would probably be good places to look for work until you are more comfortable with spoken English. The customers won't mind that your English is less than perfect and hopefully, someone there will speak French to help out when necessary. The drinking age is 18 throughout Australia so you won't have any trouble working in bars and licensed restaurants.

    If you're moving around the country, hostels will be a good place to stay and you'll meet other young travellers from Australia, Europe and the US who will have information on places to go and things to do.

  8. To work here you'll need to apply for a working visa (or a combined working/tourist visa - working holiday visa).

    Most working holiday people would work in cafes or bars or waitress at restaurants. Your age will not be a problem, but you would need to speak english to apply.
