My wife & I are 47 with two kids (17 & 11). We are both normal and healthy. We have never plan for one eversince my son was born but now we are considering....but we are worry of any complications to the baby due to our age. I understand that there's a higher ratio of conceiving an abnormal child as we aged, yeah?. Appreciate your advise, please. Many thanks.

  1. There is an increased risk of having a baby with defects or abnormalties. If this worries you alot, I would consider other options like adoption or becoming a foster parent. I would talk to your doctor though and see what they say the risks are and see if it is worth it for you to take that chance. Good luck:)

  2. There is a significant increased risk of a child with Down Syndrome. That is, if you can even get pregnant. Woman over the age of 40 usually have a difficult time getting pregnant. If you want another child badly, I would suggest adoption. However, if your wife really wants the experience of being pregnant, most woman over 40 have to consider egg donors combined with IVF.
