I recently got a raise so I can afford it. My skin has some pimples, I'm on doxycycline and Retin-A, and my skin is also very oily. I want a makeup that looks natural and not overdone, and can keep my face from looking oily. I am very worried it will make me break out like my old drugstore neutrogena makeup did. I have done some research and I found Benefit and Bare Escentuals, so what are your thoughts on those as well?

  1. It's a little bit pricey, but Dior Hydraction is pure genius in a tube.  It costs around 41 dollars at Nordstrom, but the bottle isn't too small and you don't have to use much for it to blend in well.

It's great if you have oily or dry skin, it moisturizes, blends in well, and has a high SPF to protect your skin.  It blends in AMAZING and I would only suggest tapping a little sheer powder onto problem oily areas so it doesn't break through after you start to sweat.

I can only say I'm never going back to any other brand.  Just ask the ladies at the Dior counter to put it on for you.  It feels a bit oily at first, but it absorbs into your skin and basically erases blemishes and other problem areas.  It looks natural, gives a healthy glow, and I would definitely never switch to any other product!

  2. I only use Bare Minerals (by Bare Escentuals). It is very lightweight and not only covers my breakouts but clears them up too. The best thing to do for oily skin is use bare minerals, but then also when your face gets really oily, use oil absorbing sheets. Those are made by clean & clear available at drugstores or e.l.f. available at eyeslipsface.com. They remove the oil without messing up your makeup. You can get a starter pack of bare minerals (which I highly recommend, it saves you a lot of money) at bareminerals.com or I believe they sell them at Ulta. The separate products you can buy from a Bare Minerals Store (bareescentuals.com), Ulta (ulta.com) or Sephora (sephora.com). I'm not sure if Bare Minerals still has a subscription service when you get a starter pack but just cancel it as soon as you get your package and you'll be getting a bunch of stuff for a fraction of the cost.

  3. I like TruBlend from Covergirl

  4. Hi Kate,

I have oily skin as well and I also used Bare Escentuals in the past.  I switched to MAC everything and my skin is clear, except around the time of the month.  I LOVE MAC!  And I have turned about 6 other people onto it as well.  Everyone I know that has ever used it feels the same!  Good luck!  They will help you pick out all your make-up for you skin tone, type etc.  and based on the look you like to achieve.  I'm more of a natural gal as well!

  5. i would say covergirl true blend foundation at wallmart 9.00

  6. Try puritycosmetics.co.uk. It is really good!

  7. rimmel recover or maybeline minerals collection

  8. Bare Escentuals is a good brand. I also have oily skin so I use the Clean&Clear oil absorbing wipes before I put on my makeup you can get those anywhere like Wal-mart or Target.
