Question:

I'd like to join the Marines...but can I?

I was prior Air Force, I was in the 820TH Security Forces I got discharged in 2005 with a 2B code and JKM as the separation code I got a General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions. I was in the Air Force for 3 years and 11 Months!!! Can I join the Marines? Is it possible?

  1. No.  You did not receive an honorable discharge, just a general one.  You are not eligible to enlist in the USMC


  2. I am not a Marine.  I think you can, but I also think that the Marine Corps requires you to go through basic at Paris Island no matter what.  And this is justifiably so, the Marines have a unique military culture.

    Have you contacted your local Marine recruiter?  Try www.marines.com or your local yellow pages.

  3. If it was an honorable discharge, than i believe so... you still have to go to bootcamp though.
