  1. Do NOT declare yourself bankrupt.

Immigration are not interested in normal debts. From memory I do not think they even ask.  However, bankruptcy may be a problem.

Just come on down, NOW, and let the past sort itself out !!

  2. I think it might affect you - I'm south african and if we want to go live in australia they even make us take Cholesterol tests!

Don't know you should try and fix the debt your in first i guess.

  3. if you declare yourself bankrupt then everything of value that you have will be used to recover your debts.

So if he is the one with the money don't marry him if that's what you are going to do.

My advice would be to go bankrupt then after 6 to 9 months they will clear your credit rating.

    Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

  4. Don't go bankrupt as one of the conditions of bankruptcy generally is to surrender your passport to the court.

Your UK credit rating doesn't mean squat over here. It starts from your first credit application in Australia. Your UK credit history (or any other country for that matter) can't be checked here.
